Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
Thought for the Day: Continue doing what you are called to do, even in the wait.
One day recently, I was walking as I try to do each day. And, as I walk I try to talk with God. Walking into a secluded area, I looked up and was taken straight to God as I saw beautiful leaves falling near me and felt Him near me. I asked him, “God, what do you want me to do?” As I asked that question I could almost hear Him say, “Continue what you are doing – take pictures and write.” Since I always question whether I am hearing His voice or it is my own heart, I went on and asked my next question, “But if that is what You want me to do, what about the finances?” It was then that I heard Him say, “Just keep waiting.” I actually smiled in that moment. As I shared this experience with my husband, he looked at me and said, “Funny, that’s exactly what I feel you are supposed to do.” Listening to God is sometimes hard because we don’t always hear what we want to hear. Just like when we asked our parents if we could do something and they replied, “Maybe later.” or “Just wait.” We had to wait but when our parents finished planning their adventure for us, it was all worth the wait. It is hard. When we look back on the times we waited and God answered our prayers, we realize that when God says “Just keep waiting”, that it simply means that He is still working on His plan for us and that it is just taking time for all the pieces to come together to fulfill that plan for us in His perfect way.
So, what do we do as we are waiting? We do what we know we are called to do. We praise God in the wait and thank Him for the blessings He has given. We worship Him in prayer and scripture. We spend time in meditation and share God with others. We talk to God and we give him our quiet time where He can talk to us. We listen. As I, and many others, find myself in a continual “waiting period”. I want answers in my time rather than in God’s time, but I know that God’s time is always better and that it will be worth the wait. He is saying, “Just Keep Waiting”…that has to be good.
Prayer: Father God, I trust You. You are awesome and You are our Father. You make us wait to see the plans You have for us, but we trust You and know You are preparing our future for us. Be with us as we do Your will for us day by day. Amen.
