Woman with the Camera

John 13:34

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

Thought for the DayLet God lead the way and you will find new friends along the way.

Walking in nature and taking pictures is something I truly love almost as much as writing.  I look for interesting colors, animals, and people.  I listen for the sounds of animals as they shuffle the leaves as the scamper, or honk as they fly over as the geese do.  I look for where the light is shining perfectly on an image.  I love it and feel as if I am on a mission to get the perfect shot.  As I walk holding my camera, almost every time, someone will ask if I have taken any good shots.  As I respond to them, normally a conversation begins that takes me to a new and exciting place.  These conversations are normally with strangers who are interested in the woman with the camera, but go to conversations of faith.  One very precious lady and I began talking.  In that conversation we shared a little about ourselves and that we had both been widowed.  She leads a Bible Study in her church where many of the participants are widows, some young widows as I was when my husband passed away.  We talked for the longest time and I loved every second.  She began using my devotion some in her Bible Study which touched me deeply.  One conversation began with the joking words, “Taking a picture of your boyfriend”.  I laughed because I was taking a picture of someone fishing.  I said, “No, I just love taking pictures of people fishing.”  We laughed and later in my walk I ran again into this gentleman and his wife.  We shared words about our churches and even though there are differences in our denominations, we shared a common faith.  I have also found out the history of the park and the perfect places to take pictures from those walking along the way.

God leads me to walk when I am down about something or anxious about things going on in my life.  I always take my camera because it is just something I love to do.  I never know what I am going to find along the way or who I will meet.  I truly believe, however, that God does indeed know and that He leads me to the exact person I am to meet or to the exact image I am to take a picture of.  Sometimes, I do not realize where He has led until I get back to my house and look at the images.  One thing I can know before I take the first step is that He is going to lead me to something, and that something is going to be special and is going to bring me peace.

Prayer:   Thank you, Father, for knowing what we need when we need it.  You place people in our lives who lift our spirits when we need it, and You bring nature to calm our anxieties.  You are an awesome God who created all of this just for us.  Amen.
