And the Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your desire with good things.
Thought for the Day: What will God do with our blank page?
Each day we awake, stretch, drink our coffee, read our Upper Room Devotion, and then pray about the day ahead. Where will God be leading us today? What will God have us do today? Each day, I read, pray and then open my computer to write a devotion. That blank screen I see when I put my hands on the computer keys is like my life and it is exciting in a way. At first, it is a bit scary because I want to write and do not know what is going to be typed on the page and then it happens, my fingers begin typing as the thoughts come to my mind. When I read back over my words, I am sometimes surprised as I don’t remember typing particular parts. It is obvious that they are God led. Our days are the same as that blank page if we will allow God to lead us. I look at my days right now that are nothing like I thought they would be. I find that God is placing the events in front of me as I go through my day. In the last week, this first week of school as I am not teaching at this point, I have written a talk I am giving to a Sunday School class at church (this morning), I have taken care of my boys as they began their first week of a new school year, I have prepared for my first children’s choir rehearsal in our church, and I have had thought time where I have found excitement in possibilities. I have had time to actually have conversations with my husband that we haven’t been able to have in several years. God has been here in our midst – God has led our days.
Today, I am still waiting for God to open a job position for me, and I have a blank page in front of me as I wait. In the meanwhile, though, I am watching how He is working in my life and I am surprised at the end of each day when I realize where He has led. “Lead me Lord, lead me in your righteousness, make Thy way plain, before my face.”
Prayer: Almighty God, thank you for giving us a blank slate each day and for leading our hands and leading our steps to where You want us to go. Help us open our hearts and minds up where we can hear Your voice as you call us. Amen.
