This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Thought for the Day: The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Not long after I began writing my daily devotions, and before I began my blog, I had a few rough days with my eldest son. Through that time, I shared through e-mails some of my devotionals with special friends. One morning, after a very difficult morning preparing my son for school, I talked to a teacher friend about my concerns. Her response was touching and probably began my stronger belief in the importance of reading my scriptures each morning and writing my devotions. She said, “As hard as it is to have a child this age, (11 at the time) just think about how much more difficult it would be if you were not reading scripture, not writing your devotionals, and not having your strong faith. Now that would be difficult.”
Today, in my devotion reading, I read this scripture from Joshua, “This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful. I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Reading and spending time with God through reading the scriptures are great tools to make it through human life. There are problems and there are difficult times, but keeping the Word of God close to our hearts helps us make it through.
Prayer: God, thank you for Your promise that You will be with us wherever we go. Help us be strong and courageous as we go through life, especially through our struggles, that You will be with us through it all. Amen.
Prayer Focus: Those trying to remain strong through struggles.
