The Open House

Romans 8:28-30

We know that in everything God works for good, with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.  For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the first-born among many brethren.  And those whom he predestined he also called; and those whom he called he also justified; and those whom he justified he also glorified.

Thought for the Day:  God will lead us to His plan.

Today is a day that I have been looking forward to, but it is a day I have dreaded.  Today is the day my children will go to their schools for their open houses and they will meet their teachers.  Today I dread the day because the true realization has set in that I will not begin the year as a teacher meeting my students on this day.  But, this is where God has placed me so I plan on going in with my chin up smiling as I meet my children’s teachers and as I learn more than ever about where my boys will be over the next school year.  This will be the first time I have been fully a parent on these special school days instead of sharing my children with my students.  God has given this to me on this day.  He knew my boys needed me on this day, so He gave me to them and them to me today.  God is good.

As I look at this situation I am in today, I also look at the rest of my life and where God is good in other areas. There has been excitement in my heart recently that I will be able to work throughout the school days to volunteer in my children’s schools as I have never been able to do before.  I will be able to study for a test to get an extra endorsement for when I do get a teaching position.  I will be able to volunteer at the church during the day or spend time there preparing for children’s choir rehearsals.  I will be able to go to quiet places to write and research how I can use my writing to touch more people.  I will be able to meet people at church to get to know them better where I haven’t been able to do that since I have moved here.  I feel God’s leading but I still don’t know where He is directing me to go.  Now, I have time of better reflection in my quiet time to hear Him.  God, thank you for giving me time.

Prayer:   God, thank you for loving us and giving us time to do the important things in life of taking care of our children.  Thank you for leading us in ways we do not expect.  God, please lead our steps and lead us to where you want us to be each day.  Amen.

Prayer Focus:  Those whose plans change
