Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you; therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.
Thought for the Day: Our wait will make our blessings doubly precious
I am thankful today for friends who reach out when they see a need. I have had some tough days lately in realizing that school is beginning soon and I might not be a part of a school faculty. Today, though, I rejoice that I have special friends who show Jesus to me, all in different ways. One person, who is distinguished in education, asked me if I needed him to call anyone. Another person shared personal words of her experiences of waiting. She watched as school began year after year before finally finding the place she was supposed to be. She also shared with me statements and scriptures of encouragement during times of waiting. My “Mom”, Rita, called last night to check on me and reminded me to be thankful and rejoice for what God is doing in our lives. My precious husband, who knows me better than anyone asked for prayers for me on Facebook. Today, he said, “We have the prayers going for you today.” I am thankful for all of these and their belief in me, and in their love, for it is strong.
Today, I quote again from my mother’s favorite devotional book, Streams in the Desert, that has wonderful words for anyone waiting today. “He does so (causes us to wait) because He is a wise gardener who ‘waits for the land to yield its valuable crop’ and is ‘patient…for the autumn and spring rains’ (James 5:7). God knows He cannot gather the fruit until it is ripe, and He knows precisely when we are spiritually ready to receive blessings for our gain and His glory. And waiting in the sunshine of His love is what will ripen our soul for His blessings. Also, waiting under the clouds of trials is as important for they will ultimately produce showers of blessings.” “Our time is in His hands, and He will quickly avenge those He has chosen, swiftly coming to our support without ever delaying even one hour too long. Prayer: Our Father, thank you for your provisions and for listening to our prayers. You know our needs better than we, and you bring us answers in Your timely manner. Help us leave our worries and anxieties to lay at your feet. Lord, hear our prayers. Amen.
