And I will make them and the places around about my hill a blessing; and I will send down the showers in their season; they shall be showers of blessing.
Thought for the Day: Let the rains fall for they are God’s showers of blessings.
As our mornings come and it is time to arise each day, it sometimes seems mundane and we feel we are going through the motions. The long to-do lists that most of us have are very long and the chores on the list are not fun and most are very simply put, hard. Today, I awoke hearing rain coming down outside my window and at first I thought, “Oh, no, the boys and girls will not have recess today.” To a teacher, that is a big thing. But then I thought, “God is doing a huge job for us right now!” God is watering the grass and the trees, he is watering the beautiful flowers planted for the spring, he is cleaning the air and helping with the allergies in the air, and He is refreshing our hearts as that rain falls as well. To me, God is softening my heart as the rain falls because He knows we need the rain which reminds me that He knows what I need today. Yes, our students need recess but God’s plan to water the area around us is so much more important. I love God’s plan.
Today, as I enter a day of unknown scenarios for my life, I find myself thinking about God’s plan and how much better His plan is than my own plan will ever be. I find myself at a time when all I can do is trust in God and trust that He will lead me toward the plan He has for me. Just as the grass, trees, flowers, rivers, streams, and people depend on God to bring the most needed rain, He also brings His beautiful “rain” to us in the way of opening the opportunities He has planned for us and He lets those blessings “rain” down on us.
Prayer: God, thank you for the rain. Thank you for letting us see, almost immediately, how the rain You send brings beauty to the trees and plants around us. Help us today Lord, to trust that Your blessings will “rain” down on us and will bring the knowledge of Your plan for our lives. Help us to see Your plan as clearly as the rain falling from the sky. Rain down on us today. Amen.
