“Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a placed for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way where I am Going.”
Thought for the Day: Enjoy home on earth as God prepares a place for us with Him.
Isn’t it wonderful to come home? After a long day of teaching, I was ready to come home. Throughout the day, as I taught my lessons and shared stories with my students, I thought about what I would do when I got home to relax. After school, I had a couple of tasks to complete so I stayed longer than I had planned. By the time I left, the traffic on the interstate that I normally drive shown on my GPS to be stopped, so I took an alternate route that took me longer than my normal drive home. The time finally came when I drove into our driveway and I unloaded my things to go in the house. I got my child settled and made sure my eldest was okay then I made a cup of coffee. As it was brewing, I went outside to check on some plants I had planted and gave them water. I came back in, grabbed my cup of coffee and the novel I had been reading. Setting up my chair outside then sitting down to read felt so good that the time flew by. Before I knew it, my relaxation time ended as I had to go do something else. It was amazing how relaxed I felt after going outside to read for just a few minutes and my body felt rejuvenated as it had not felt throughout the day. I was home with my boys, my husband, and with a peace that only comes from being at home.
As I thought about that desire to get home from work and to relax for that period of time, I thought about the home that has been promised us by God. At home, there is the welcoming of quiet peace and family. With God, there is first that welcome by God and by that great cloud of witnesses. Then, there is perfect peace with Him. That home, the home we long for, is where He is already preparing a place for each one of us. “I can only imagine.”
Prayer: Father God, thank you for giving us our earthly home to find relaxation and peace at the end of a hard day. Thank you even more for the preparations you are making for when our time comes to be at home with You. Amen.
