God is in Control

1 Peter 5:8-10

Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, and strengthen you.

Thought for the Day:  Remember that no matter what, God is in Control

After several days of feeling that God has been walking beside me through my days, I suddenly felt at loss and in need of comfort. As I began thinking about my writing I found that there was an obvious block. I awoke this morning feeling that block was still with me and that I still couldn’t think about what to write. In these early morning hours, it has come to my mind that my block has come because Satan does not like it when we become so close to God and he tries everything in his power to pull us away. At first, I prayed hard and asked God to give me the clear subject to write about but I still couldn’t think of anything except that Satan had gotten in the way. Then I started telling Satan to get away because I did not want him around and that I was not going to accept him in my life. Well, God gave me the words to write and those words are about Satan and that we can tell him to go away. God is ALWAYS there to help us but sometimes that “block” comes and God seems hidden. Today, I say “Go away Satan – You are not wanted here.” And I say, “God, I am yours and nothing is going to stand between us.”

I have learned in my life that when things are going right and when I feel God standing very close beside me that Satan does not like it. He is going to try to interrupt and he is going to try to get into the mind to cloud our thoughts. As that happens, I have found that praying hard and blocking Satan from our thoughts comes through acknowledging God, praying, reading the Bible, and simply telling him to get away. God can handle Satan – we don’t have to – God is in control.

Prayer: God, thank you for loving us and for keeping us safe. Help us know that to do to block the enemy from coming into our lives. You are our awesome God and You are in control of my life. Amen.
