Well, Hello God!

Psalms 147:7-11

Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make melody to our God upon the lyre! He covers the heavens with clouds, he prepares rain for the earth, he makes grass grow upon the hills. He gives the beasts their food, and to the young ravens which cry. His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man; but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.

Thought for the Day:  Watch for God, He is there

My first reaction when I looked outside this morning was, “Oh, man, it is raining.” Then, I raised our window and immediately heard the rain falling and the sound of the creek that welcomed the water from the higher hills. My heart went from thoughts of time and that we needed to begin getting ready for church to thoughts of peace that we needed to slow down and enjoy God’s gifts of rain and peace. Then I listened more intently to hear first the quiet inside the house. My husband had already gone to church, my oldest child was on a retreat, and my youngest was still asleep. As I listened I continued hearing the water but I also heard the precious sounds of birds as they sang their songs and spoke to one another. What calmness I have felt as God began my day!

As I finished writing my words above and began looking up the scripture, I looked out the window and in the midst of the stillness the leaves in the trees began moving as if to wave hello to me. When I looked back again they were still. God gave me a reminder that He is here and that He is control, and then he gave a little wave to make sure I recognized that it was all from Him. I finished our “conversation” with a wave back because I also wanted God to know that I was thinking about Him today.

Prayer:   Wow, God, what a beautiful day it is when we recognize so clearly that You are here. Thank you for making Yourself known to us each day and for giving us those little reminders that You are here with us. Be with us as we go through our day to see you more clearly. Amen.
