God, Come to Me

Psalm 40:16-17

But may all who seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee; may those who love thy salvation say continually, “Great is the Lord!” As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me, Thou art my help and my deliverer; do not tarry, O my God.”

Thought for the Day:  Rejoice, God is in control

“Honey, have you noticed that over the past couple of weeks that it seems that Satan has been messing with us?” “Yes, I have felt it and it is hard.”  Today, I awoke and continued feeling a little lost after going through a couple of weeks of sickness in our household and feeling like a break is needed for me but knowing a break is not coming.  On this Monday morning, those thoughts continue as Satan once again came into my Sunday morning creating a situation where I couldn’t go to worship.  I prayed and wrote that morning about how wonderful it was for me to go to worship and how meaningful the music and sermons were for me each week.  My sons and I made it to church and were ready to enter our time of worship when one came up to me with tears in his eyes, “Mama, I don’t feel good.”  I even tried to make him stay but after a bit, I realized he really didn’t feel well and that we had to leave.  It truly felt that God gave me a true excitement for going to worship only to have Satan come in and take it away.  From that moment on, I felt lost and afraid with a strong feeling that there was little hope.

This morning, I began reading my normal devotionals but finally closed my computer and put my head in my hands.  I prayed.  I decided to pick up my Bible and look up “hope” in the concordance.  It took me to Psalms where I read chapters 39-41.  The feelings of loss as David wrote were similar to feelings I have had recently, but David continued praising God and asking help knowing that help would come.  Today, I praise God for all He has given and ask God to lead us through shielding us from what seems to be the work of Satan.  “As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me.  Thou art my help and my deliverer; do not tarry, O my God.”

Prayer: Almighty God! I praise You today for your love for us.  Be with us as we go through our day to see You and You alone. Give us hope to know that You are in control.  Protect us, we pray.  Amen
