Big or Small, Thank God

Philippians 4:6-7

Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplications with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Thought for the Day:  Be thankful in everything, big or small

The week was tough finding out that one of my children had pneumonia and then later personally becoming sick with an “it will hurt if I swallow” type of sore throat. Through these days, I have prayed that both child and self would begin the process of healing.  As we return to our school as student and teacher, I am thankful that although we are still mending God has begun the process of healing in both of us.  I have found through these days, that I am not as quick to thank God for the things He does for us when we are going through a difficult time, but I know that I am to do just that.  I read a special devotional this morning about thanking God in the little things such as a plant or pet coming back to health after being weak.  Should I not be thankful even more in knowing God is healing my son who had been so sick?

The writer of The Upper Room devotional I read this morning said, “The practice of persistent prayer has led me to persistent thanksgiving, and I am now trying to be faithful in thanking God for answered prayers, big or small.”  I believe that the lesson God has given me today is the thought of being more thankful for all the things, even the tiny things I normally look over and do not think about.  Then, I will find myself joyously thanking Him for the big things.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for reminding us today to be thankful in all things, big or small. You are so good to us and we know it hurts you when we are not thankful.  Help us be more thankful to you and to those around us every day.  Amen.
