Opportunities for Sharing

Romans 1:16-17

For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to every one who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, “He who through faith is righteous shall live.”

Thought for the Day:  What opportunity will we take today to share God’s Word with others?

Opportunity came yesterday for me to have some extra time with my youngest son. As I began my normal twenty minute drive to our school, I found myself in a major traffic jam.  The interstate system was jammed tight and I needed to take another direction.  I began my drive another way and it was jammed as well.  As I drove, I began working with my son on his words and sounds for kindergarten.  As we drove by something at a very slow rate, I spelled a word of something I saw, sounded it out phonetically, and he called out the word when he recognized it.  We had fun and he learned a lot along the way.  When I got to school, I shared several words the same way with my students who enjoyed the time as well.

God gives us opportunities every day to share His Word and to teach those around us about His love for us.  Some of the opportunities are obvious as we have church groups and conversations.  Some just happen as we go through our day when we find ourselves alone with a colleague or friend.  The key to finding these opportunities is whether we recognize them and share His Word or do we miss the opportunity by letting the time go by.  I was thankful for my time with my son yesterday helping him with his learning, but I want to make sure I take the time to share God with him and with others as the opportunities arise each day.

Prayer: Thank you, God, for the opportunities you give us to share Your Word with people each day. Help us recognize those opportunities and share in the way You would have us in those times.  You are an awesome God.  Help us recognize you in the midst of our daily live and to see the opportunities You give us to share Your love.  Amen.
