Finally Home

Philippians 4:49

What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace will be with you.

Thought for the Day:  God will give you rest.

I came home to see our new great room furniture had arrived taking up a lot of space but also looking very comfortable. I dared not sit down as I had promised my family another home cooked meal.  I cooked and we ate.  As my husband cleaned the kitchen, I changed into very comfortable clothes and sat on the chaise part of the sofa.  I found the remote control and changed the channel to something I wanted to watch.  A few minutes after I sat down, my youngest came up beside me and laid his head in my lap.  We grabbed blankets and cuddled as we watched a movie about migrating geese, Fly Away Home.  My child fell asleep on my lap and I continued watching the movie taking in every moment.  As I watched, I watched a little girl prepare to help geese that had no parents to migrate south from Canada to North Carolina.  Over a period of many months the girl and her father worked without stopping to create planes that they could pilot, and that the geese would follow.  In the end, the geese made it to their new home and immediately felt comfortable in their new surroundings of fields and ponds.  They were safe.

God has sent us to a new place with many changes.  We have changed states, cities, churches, houses, jobs, schools, and almost every aspect of life as it was before.  We worked without stopping for many months finding those jobs, houses, and schools.  Then we packed without stopping until we were ready for our move.  We were blessed that God had already sent us my husband’s job and our new church, so throughout the whole time of change, we knew where He was leading us.  This morning, after sitting in our own great room watching a wonderful movie last night, I awoke with light coming in my window instead of with a very early alarm clock. I sit and write knowing I am home feeling comfortable in my surroundings.  God has sent us to a new place that in time will feel like home to all of us.

Prayer: God, thank you for bringing us home. Sometimes it feels as we are in turmoil and that things will never feel normal again.  Then, You carry us and lead us to where we are supposed to be.  Help those who feel lost today to “come home” to Your love and care.  Amen
