True Love and Devotion

1 John 4:12

No man has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

Thought for the Day:  God’s love surrounds us.

Recently I viewed a video of a young wife. She loved life and she loved being a wife. She felt that she needed to be everything to her husband. She loved washing his clothes and even though he said he would help her with it, she always did it before he came home from work where she could do it. She loved to cook and cooked wonderful meals for him everyday. She also loved her work even though she had to go a distance walking and using public transportation. One day she realized something was happening to her eyesight and without letting her husband know, she went to a doctor. She was diagnosed with a disease that would take her eyesight. She gradually lost her eyesight but continued doing all the things she always did. Her husband loved her through her bad times and without her knowing it, he stood quietly beside her as she washed clothes placing colors where she was reaching where she would sort correctly, as she cooked placing vegetables and fruits to where her hand was reaching where it would be easier on her, and he followed her to work making sure a car didn’t go toward her or that someone didn’t ask her to sit by her on the bus. His love for her was so deep he would do anything for her.

Isn’t this like God? Isn’t God always walking right beside us giving us protection, comfort, peace, and love through our every step. Most of the time we go through our days without thinking about him being there, but He always is.

Prayer:   God, thank you for walking beside us even when we do not realize you are present. You are love and your love abides in us. Help us to learn to love in the way you have taught. Amen
