He Gives Us Confidence

Psalm 121:3

He will not let your foot be moved, he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

Thought for the Day:  God loves you and is with you every step of the way.

Making a good first impression is something my mother always taught me to strive to do when going into a new situation. That has always seemed hard for me as my shyness tends to keep me from going into a situation with the confidence needed to make that good first impression. However, more recently I have felt God with me as I have entered situations and I feel He is guiding my feet and guiding my words. Today I enter into a new situation and pray that God will be with me as He has been with me all along. In the devotional I read this morning, I read these words: “We know He’s up there, but we forget He’s right here. We know He can help us, but we struggle to believe that He will. We know He counts all of our hairs, but we’re afraid He might have moved on to other heads. After all, there are so many. It’s a big world with lots of problems. Maybe He’s too busy for ours.” But the writer goes on to remind me that “He doesn’t wonder how your life will play out, because He knows every possibility, including the one that will actually happen. He laments your lack of confidence in Him, but He never loses His love for you, because His love is boundless and always overflowing. And it flows to you, even while you sleep.”

So, today I go into a new situation with confidence. Not a confidence, however, that comes naturally for me but the confidence comes from the knowledge that God is not “somewhere out there” but God is right beside me. My devotional ended with a quote by Augustine, “God loves you as though you are the only person in the world, and He loves everyone the way He loves you.”

Prayer:   God, thank you for loving us in a way that no one can love on earth. You love each of us as if we are the only one on earth. That is amazing and wonderful. Please remind us that You are walking with us every step of the way. Amen.
