The Amazing Power of Prayer

Philippians 4:6

Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God.

Thought for the Day:  Pray for someone today.

Have you ever felt it? Have you ever really felt it? I have and it is absolutely amazing. There have been many times in my life where I needed to feel the closeness of God and I needed, without saying, prayers to be lifted for me. In grief, I was always amazed as I experienced visitation lines and funerals of loved ones how easily I remembered names and how I was brought to happy thoughts about my loved one. I always said, “I felt as something came over me to help me through.” In transition, I have been amazed in the way something will happen that is obviously from God and I find out later that someone was praying for me during that time. Recently, I had gone through a hard evening with my children and truly was lost for a period of time. The next morning, however, I awoke refreshed and ready to take on the day in a new light. I knew in that moment that my precious husband had prayed diligently for me in order that could have a night of rest.

I ask for prayers for different people each day in a blog I write and I know that many read and pray in each situation. As I reflect back on the prayer requests made, I can see clearly where people have prayed, even in the unspoken prayers. We are a praying people and that is what God calls us to do. If we have ever felt a prayer being lifted for us, we know the feeling. As we receive those blessings through prayer, we also learn to pray for others that they can feel the blessing that someone is praying for us. “Have you ever felt it? Have you ever really felt it? I have and it is Amazing!” Pray for someone today.

Prayer:   God, thank you for the prayer warriors who pray for us each day. Help us become better at lifting friends and strangers in prayer when we see a need. Thank you for hearing our prayers. Amen.
