Accepting Showers of Blessings

Ezekiel 34:26

And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will send down the showers in their season; they shall be showers of blessings.

Thought for the Day:  Look for God’s Showers of Blessings

“Mark, there’s a Little Bit of Joyners out here!” were the words I spoke as we walked through a house in Dacula, Georgia. Those words came straight out of my mouth when I stepped out onto the deck and looked out to see a wooded area with a creek running through it. Mark came out and immediately agreed with me that, “There’s a Little Bit of Joyners out here!” To him, it was “the clear sign” that this was the house for us. As he said, “I felt it was our house….and I hadn’t even seen the upstairs yet.” It took me awhile longer, but as I started picturing the house and the backyard, I came to have thought about a firepit, boys playing in the woods, and so many other possibilities. It was my five year old son who said, “That’s where you can sit and write.” That did it for me and now, I long to be able to get back outside and write as I did on our back deck in the house we live in now.

Since giving and offer on the house and having the offer accepted, I have had a roller coaster of emotions. There is excitement over getting a beautiful house with a wonderful backyard. Then, there is the fear over the obvious financial obligations. I realize that the blessings from God have showered once again on our family and I still feel the need to hold back. My “God centered” second mother, Rita, has worked with me through the emotions in order to calm my spirit and to tell me that “You have had a lot of loss in your life, Donna, and it is okay to feel God’s blessings.” So today, I feel God has showered His blessings on our family and I believe He has acknowledged the faithfulness of my husband in his true love for God through a very bad storm, and the faithfulness I have tried to keep through that same bad storm. Today, I pray a prayer from Chris Tiegreen’s “The One Year Worship the King”. “Lord, glorify me that I might glorify You.” Today, I worship my Lord and give thanks to him for the blessings he has showered on my family and acknowledge Him once again as my Lord and Savior.

Prayer:   God, thank you for the blessings you shower on us each day. Help us to use those blessings to glorify You. You have called us to follow you and we pray that you will glorify You every step of the way. Amen.
