Accepting Joy

Ezekiel 34:26

And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will send down the showers of blessing.

Thought for the Day:  Showers of Blessing

Accepting the joy of Christ should be something that comes naturally because God has blessed us. As a child of God, it is sometimes hard to see the joy in events in our lives because of our human nature. Recently I experienced something that should bring so much joy to my life that I praise and shout to everyone what has happened. However, in fear I did not show the joy because I was afraid if I did the event would not happen.  Today, I look at God’s presence in my life and realize that God does not intend for us to do things or feel things in order to receive his blessings and joy. He loves to bless and he blesses us abundantly.

Today, I strive to look at God’s blessings as His gifts to a child He loves. The reason for those blessings is His love for me and not as a reward for something I have done. In our society, we seem to work for the pay or reward so accepting God’s blessings for what they are is strange. But accepting God’s abundant blessings is also wonderful and can bring us more joy that we can ever imagine.

Prayer:   God, you have blessed us with so many blessings that we should be overwhelmed with joy. Help us see the blessings you bring us where we can experience the joy you desire in our lives.
