Reflecting God in Daily Life

1 Corinthians 10:31

So, whatever you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Thought for the Day:  Live life to glorify  God and His reflection will shine through you.

Reflect or Deflect? Which of these do I do? I call myself a Christian and I want to reflect God in the things I do. But do I always do that? My answer is no and there are things in my life that need to change before my life is a reflection of Christ. Yesterday I was thinking about my work as a teacher I had thoughts such as “I know someone is going to walk into my room soon to evaluate me”, “I need to grade those test papers”, or “I have another meeting during my planning time.” All of these thoughts are normal as a teacher in today’s educational system, and that is okay. But, as a Christian, it is not really okay. The thoughts I should have must revolve around how I am reflecting God in the things I am doing. Today, as I think about my work as a teacher, I want to have thoughts such as “If my evaluator comes into my room what will I do to reflect God to the children and to that administrator?”, “As I grade those tests, will I grade them in a way that helps the child understand something to give them growth – will I reflect God even in my grading of papers?”, and “In my meeting, will my colleagues see me as someone frustrated that I have a meeting or someone positive reflecting God to the others in attendance.” God calls us to reflect Him in every situation in life. How will I do that?

It is difficult to understand how to always reflect God, but many have done it before us to give us examples. Paul did it. Timothy did it. Many have done it. Jesus, even through death on the cross, did it. They all did it because they did everything to give glory to God. We can do it by giving Glory to God in every situation. As I think about this, I know I have a long way to go. But I do have examples to go by. What have I learned: “Whatever you do, do it for His glory.”

Prayer:   God, help us look at things through Your eyes where we can reflect You in our daily living. Help us to keep our thoughts on You as we go through our day where we can live our lives to glorify you. Amen
