God, Give Me Faith Today

Genesis 28:20-21

Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear, so that I come again to my father’s house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God.”

Thought for the Day:  As God for faith first thing in the morning and you will never live without it.

“God, give me faith today!” This is a prayer that asks God for what we need before we ask for anything else from God. If we ask God for faith everyday, we will never live without it. My devotional this morning had a quote by Martin Luther that gave me that thought and gave me a strong desire to ask God for simple faith. “Ask God to work faith in you, or you will remain forever without faith, no matter what you wish, say or can do.” * If we begin each day knowing that God is giving us the faith we need to do everything He ordains for us, then we will always have the faith to do those things He leads us to without question. As a woman who tends to put off things she is uncomfortable in doing because of shyness, this really hits home for me. If I ask God for faith before I begin each day, I believe God will help me through even those uncomfortable things.

As I look at the faith I have and as I look back over all the things that have happened in my life to show God’s grace to me and have given me that faith, I need to remember to look forward as well. The faith that has been formed throughout my life is the faith that will let me look forward to the blessings I know God has in store for me already. Today I pray that God will give me faith today. I pray that He will help me use that faith to do the things He has ordained for me today.

Prayer:   God, please give me faith today! Give me faith to let me do all the things you have ordained for me. Please let me know that I can do anything You ask of me when I know You have given me the faith to do them.  Amen.
