Being in Tune with Jesus

 John 15:15

No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

Thought for the Day:  Jesus is closer than a phone call

I know Jesus and Jesus knows me. When I was younger and my parents were still with me, many times our conversations would began with, “Honey, how are you?”, to which I would reply, “I’m okay.” My mother would go on to say, “Really?” or “Are you sure?”. At that point, I would begin crying and would tell her all that I was feeling or going through. There were other times when my Daddy would call or visit and I would immediately break into emotional tears because he was there when I needed him, even though I had not shared anything with him. That communication went the other way as well. I knew when I needed to call my parents because of a feeling, and more times than not, they would be in an emotional place where they needed me.

What a wonderful relationship I had with my parents that we knew when we needed each other. That closeness is what I desire from Jesus and I know in my heart that Jesus desires that as well. As I go through my daily routine, I desire to “hear that phone ring” and to hear Jesus on the other end saying, “Honey, how are you?” and for me to share with him all my feelings, fears, and dreams. But, I realize that He is calling and He is there for me anytime I need Him, I just have to listen and accept His call. He wants to listen.

Prayer:   God, thank you for being so close to me that you know my every need and that you are listening. Help me to be more in tune with you that I am constantly talking to You and listening for your voice. I want You to be my constant companion. Amen.
