The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and the little child shall lead them.
Thought for the Day: Evan a child can bring joy and love through his words
“God, I love you, Thank you for our food. I love you. Amen.” That is the prayer our four year old says when he is asked to say a blessing before a meal. One day, our family was in a restaurant about to eat our meal when we asked Jonathan to say our blessing. He said those words and we ate our meal. A few minutes later, a lady who had been sitting at the next table came to our table and said, “I am sorry to interrupt your meal, but I had to tell you that his little prayer was the sweetest thing I have ever heard and it made my day.” At the point of the prayer being said, we didn’t think about it as being anything out of ordinary because he does the same prayer each time he is asked to pray and we take it for granted. But to this lady, it was not just a quick prayer. It might have been an answer to prayer for her. We have no idea her situation but in that moment, her thoughts went to God because of the sweet prayer of a four year old.
How often do we take for granted something we say or pray that could be just what a person needs to hear in that moment. That little prayer, said in a four year old child’s voice, is my example today to share my love of Christ to those around me because I don’t know who might need to hear Christ’s words today.
Prayer: God, help us to grow in our faith by learning Your teachings. Help us to find new and creative ways to share Your Word with the world. Help us to teach others, especially our precious children, how to be Your storytellers. Amen.
